If I Had One Of Those Blue Scrub Shirts I Could Get The Employee DiscountThis morning I ate breakfast with Trent. He got a new job at Providence Hospital a few months ago. He works in the business end of things. They have been remodeling for what seems like forever. They just reopened their kitchen/cafe last week. He invited me to come and eat with him. It was better than most hospital food. While I was paying for my meal the cashier asked if I was an employee. I said I looked like an employee and asked if I could still get the employee discount. I was told no, but if I had been wearing one of those blue scrub shirts I might. ;)
My meal wasn't that much anyways. O had two pancakes as big as the plate for $1.65 and two eggs over easy for about $2.00. Thank you, Trent. I enjoyed it. Trent's, I Mean Caroline's Christmas GiftGranna & Granddad gave Caroline and Cameron RC cars for Christmas. Cameron is still kind of in the "I like to push it" stage. Caroline really likes hers. Trent found he can have fun with the car too.
The New HouseWell not so new. Beth Ann and I moved into a new to us home at the beginning of August. It was a God thing. It was the right price (needs some work though), right time, and it moved very quickly. It was two to three weeks between the time we put an offer on the house and the day we moved in. In between that we put our house on the market and sold it. WOW!!!
Like I alluded to, it needs some work. The house was built in 1940 and has only had two owners. Some of the rooms (Breakfast Room, Master Bedroom & Bath) have the original wallpaper on the walls. Structurally, it is in excellent condition. The wiring is a little scary, but I'll work on it. It is just 5 blocks from our old house on Trice, but it feels like a different world. That's Waco.
We have enjoyed having the youth over for S.E.E.D. twice already as well as the staff. It will take a while to paint, etc.; but it will be worth it. Check out the pictures. We are still moving in and painting, so be gentle. Not pictured are the Master Bedroom & Bath, they are both unpresentable at this time. Of all the rooms they are in most need of updating. For now Beth Ann and I are living in the Pink Bedroom and will tackle the Master last.
Family and friends are always welcome. Email me or leave a comment and we'll have you over for a meal or game.
In The End We All Just Want Our Tummy Rubbed
3 years ago I was voted "most likely to take him home" when he showed up at the church. My foster son and I called him the foster dog. When we couldn't find who he belonged to he became "Foster." He was great with my foster son and has been a good dog. When we added Febe they were great companions. Foster was in the bushes in the dark by the garage. He was not moving and by the time I got there had stopped whining. I called his name and he tried to move his head. He was wet and covered in mud. His head and two legs were bloody, but it wasn't until we got him to the the vet emergency hospital that we found out they weren't just bloody, they were tore up. The vet said by the kind of wounds he had he had been attacked by more than one other dog and offered that only one kind of dog made those kind of wounds. Today I picked him up early from the hospital and took him to his vet. He stayed there most of the day, but by 4:00 PM we had to make the decision to have him put to sleep. He was hurting and tore up and couldn't get up. While waiting for the vet at the hospital to help come get him out of the car he managed to hold his back leg up just enough to tell me he wanted to have his stomach rubbed. We loved him and will miss him. GraduationSaturday the oldest of my foster sons graduated from Bryan High School. We did not get to attend even though we had planned to. For the past weeks we have had lots of rain in the area. There has been flooding in the areas just south of Waco and Saturday morning was no exception. We headed off about 7 AM and the farther we got the worst the rain. Rather than risk becoming the evening story on Channel 10 we decided to turn around. Weather was nicer that afternoon.
I miss him and his brother. They left my home six years ago and it has been a blessing to still get pictures and news. You say its your birthday...well its my birthday too.
My brother is a good guy. It is nice to be living close to him and my parents again. When we left for college I never came back home for longer than just visits. Now, the Lord has put us all back together. My parents moved to Hewitt this past summer so we are all now minutes away from each other. Thank You Dad!My Dad helped me, he actually did most of the work, make new doors for the cabinets in my kitchen and bathroom. I have been working on my house for 3 years now. The kitchen cabinets are original to the house and were built in the house. Finding pre-made doors that fit them has proved impossible. I finally got to new cabinet doors for the kitchen and doors for the vanity and storage I built in the bathroom. He did a great job. It sure is nice to have them. They make the kitchen look larger and help us hide food and dishes.
Thank You Dad!
Check out the pics of the doors in the photo albums. |
